Our Inspiration
I've long been an admirer of the stately architecture and classic charm of First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville which is well over a hundred years old and in my opinion the most beautiful building in East Texas.
It's mostly a long and meandering story but let me sum it up by saying that on a cool fall day in 2007 Randy and I purchased two properties in Shelbyville for the sole purpose of cleaning up the buildings, landscape, and perhaps having an investment for the future. The plan was first of all to get rid of some of the derilict buildings in the center of our town. We had planed to demolish the old store because it was so tiny and asthetically a disaster. However, after being around the building for a while, it's primitive charm started to woo us toward a renovation instead of a demolition.
Finally we decided to fix the buildings up a bit with the idea being to enhance the buildings so that they might mimic the classic, colonial style of the church albeit with a more rustic touch.
The result is Southern Seasons. Nothing like what I first imagined it to be. But then isn't that just life for you? The most wonderful thing about life is that you never know where it's going to take you. You just know that if you keep an open mind, open spirit, and believe with all your heart that life is good, then that's how it turns out to be.
